UN 1993 designates “FLAMMABLE LIQUID, N.O.S.”, where N.O.S. means “not otherwise specified.” It is a Class 3 entry, with packing groups I, II or III (ADR 3.2, Table A, UN 1993, columns 2–4, Volume I, page 390).
The designation must normally be supplemented by the substance’s technical name in parentheses. An exception applies where national law or an international convention prohibits disclosure of a controlled substance’s identity (ADR 3.2, Table A, UN 1993, column 6, SP 274, Volume I, page 390; ADR 3.1.2.8.1, Volume I, page 271).
